On Sunday 11th October we were pleased to collect only 24 bags of rubbish, quite a reduction on the earlier sweeps
when we started cleaning up the parish five years ago. Thank you to both old faithfuls and newcomers who joined the
team of volunteers. Thanks to those of you who regularly pick up litter on your walks through the parish. And thank
you to the Cenacolo Community who also join in with the task of keeping our roadside verges clean.
Lunch afterwards was a convivial affair, where we toyed with ideas for lane-side posters:
LOVELY LITTER FREE LANES, THANKS
KEEP SKELSMERGH CLEAN!
YOU ARE ENTERING A LITTER FREE ZONE
But we decided against this as it could turn out to be counterproductive. We shall however request a new litter bin
for the ever popular and romantic Otterbank layby late night picnic spot. Paddy Lane must be an attractive eating
and drinking venue too - we collected ten bags of rubbish from there.
Do join us in spring for the next parish clean up.
